Super Silver Haze is an award winning strain, so when I saw it pop up in my favorite dispensary (shoutout to Greenhouse Farmacy), I knew I had to try it. When I mentioned it, the budtender say “Yeah, that one is niiiiiiice.” I have to say, I was a fan of this one. Let’s take a look:
Consumption Method: Dry Herb Vape (Arizer Solo 2)
Genetics: Skunk x Northern Lights x Haze
Terpenes: Myrcene, Limonene, Caryophyllene
Scent: Skunky pine – what you think of when you imagine “weed smell”
Taste: Toasty, nutty, pine
Feelings: Energetic, zen, giggly, stimmy, focused, warmth, cooling
Negative Effects: Jaw tightness (brief), and dry eye (mildly)
How Was the High?
Super Silver Haze is touted as having an “energetic, long-lasting body high” on Leafly, so I selected a day when I really needed a pick-me-up to try this strain. Now, I’m not normally a morning smoker, but I was so tired, and I needed to get some stuff done, so I fired up the vape at like 8am. I had been up since 4am and didn’t really get quality sleep, and I did have some household things I wanted to do. Could the Super Silver Haze give me the energy and motivation I needed to make a homemade pasta sauce, write a blog post, and clean up the house a little? The answer was yes.
The first thing I noticed, as with all sativas, is the tingly feeling moving into my temples. I was also pretty squinty. The high did not impede my ability to chop food. I make my red sauce chock full of vegetables like onion, zucchini, carrot, and shallot. It makes it more filling and is a good way to increase the veggies I eat when veggies are Not the Vibe™. I put on my current podcast hyperfixation, Dungeons & Daddies, and got my sauce going pretty smoothly. This strain is a giggly one, and I found myself cackling at the terrible dad jokes.
Another thing that is important to note is that chopping up food can present sensory problems. The zen feeling this strain gave me made me less panicky when the onions started making me tear up. I usually panic immediately, but I was able to calmly walk away, wash my hands, and wait for the stinging to pass before returning.
While the sauce simmered away, I sat down to write up my review of Blue Dream. Now, writing up a review of one strain while high on another was a bold move. However, I make very thorough notes on my phone when I’m testing strains, so I was able to use those and not get confused. I was able to make notes on Super Silver Haze WHILE reading through my Blue Dream notes. I even reviewed it sober before I posted that one and I didn’t have to change anything. This is an unusually good amount of focus for me. The whole time I was blogging I was bobbing my head (it felt floaty and nice) ad rocking. I put on some nice stimmy music and had a great time.
I also remembered to keep checking and adjusting my sauce.
Another interesting effect is the feeling of warmth I felt in my stomach, kinda like I was using a heating pad. I also felt a cooling sensation running down my neck. I did have a bit of jaw tightness, but vocal stimming helped with that. I got a bit of dry eye, but it’s unclear if that was because of lack of sleep or weed. I didn’t get the dry very much on future uses of this strain so I mostly blame sleep deprivation.
Another thing I should probably mention is that my time of the month was starting during this test. I could make pages and pages of content on how periods affect autism, but for now I will just say that the biggest problem is increased sensory sensitivity and lack of energy. Super Silver Haze did help me mitigate the negative symptoms of having a period while being autistic. My period is a HUGE energy drain. This strain helped me get way more done that I ordinarily would have. In fact, I’m having some right now while I’m writing this.
TL;DR – Did it Help Manage My Neurodivergence?
Overstimulation: Yes – this one helped me deal with the intense negative sensory experience that is my period, and stopped me from panicking while cutting onions.
Understimulation: Yes, this one was very stimmy. I experienced pure autistic joy while watching Tik Toks about dogs several times. It was great.
Executive Function: Yes – despite my period and lack of sleep draining my energy I ended up able to do multiple tasks on a Sunday morning.
Focusing: An unusual amount – this one is just great. I can see myself being able to use this one at work it’s so good at helping me focus.
Sleep: N/A – not the goal with this one. This strain is for getting the energy to do the things.
