Strawberry Cough

I’m not going to lie – I mostly chose this because it was labeled as an “energetic” sativa and it SMELLS LIKE STRAWBERRIES. I have a tattoo of a strawberry and tend to gravitate to that flavor in just about everything. No other reasoning behind the choice, but let’s break it down:

Consumption Method: Dry Herb Vape (Arizer Solo 2)
Type: Sativa
Genetics: In question, but consensus is that it’s most likely Haze x Strawberry Fields
Terpenes: Beta-Caryophyllene, Limonene, Myrcene, Alpha-Humulene, Geraniol, Linalool, and other smaller percentages of things like Pinene
Scent: STRAWBERRIES, fresh cut grass, pine
Taste: The only way to describe the taste is “strawberries sitting on the lawn”
Feelings: Euphoria, silly goofy mood, Stimmy, happy, no thoughts-head empty, hyper
Negative Effects: Dry mouth, mildly dry eyes, coughing more than usual, very sleepy on the comedown

A Note About the Terpenes We Haven’t Discussed:

Beta-Caryophyllene – This terpene is found in black pepper, cloves, rosemary, hops, and of course, cannabis. It is anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and even has antioxidant properties. In cannabis, it is used to relieve anxiety and pain.
Myrcene – Found in bay, cannabis, and hops, this monoterpene has sedating and relaxing effects. It has an earthy, sweet flavor, which is probably why this strain smells so strongly of fruit.
Alpha-Humulene – This terpene has a woodsy, earthy scent and is found in both hops and cannabis. It is frequently found in strains that also contain Beta-Caryophyllene. This compound has been used to fight tumors, and has anti-inflammatory properties. It is mostly responsible for the herbaceous, spicy scent of cannabis.
Geraniol – This terpene gives weed a sweet, floral taste and aroma. It’s frequently used in the fragrance industry, and is usually derived from the geranium flower.

So, How Was the High?

This one is definitely a weekend or evening strain. It did not help me get anything done, but it did help me laugh so hard at something stupid that I had tears streaming down my face. This one is what my brother would call “gigglebush”.

The first noticeable effect was in my face. My jaw felt very tight and my cheeks felt like they had a heavy blush to them. Jaw tightness is a common side effect for me with almost every strain except maybe Sour Krypt OG. I also got some nice, light airy tingles around my temples and eyes. This is one where you can feel yourself squinting and don’t care enough to try to open your eyes. The sensation then moved to my whole head. I think at one point I turned to my husband and said, through my giggles, “Oh my god, my whole head is vibrating.” I also coughed more than usual while vaping it, but it is called “strawberry cough” so what can you expect?

The next thing I noticed was a profound increase in physical sensation. My husband at one point rubbed my arm and I pulled away because it felt like electricity inside of my bones. It did make physical stimming feel amazing, especially the “cricket leg” thing where you rub your feet together. This one, like Sour Krypt, also vastly increased the amount of physical and vocal stimming I did. Picture the “creepy walk” animation from the Sims, and that was me the whole time I was high, running through my tiny apartment like a chihuahua with the zoomies. It was a little hard to sit still and by the peak of the high my whole body felt tingly and ALIVE.

Despite all these amazing physical sensations, I did also turn into some kind of feral creature with little to no thought process. Hence why I said this is a weekend strain. I was at one point crying laughing over something I cannot remember. I also decided it was a good idea to post every weird thought I had on social media. One example was a Facebook post that just said “Monocle Lewinsky [insert picture of Monica Lewinsky wearing a monocle]” and that’s it. And no, I did not include a picture, I literally just posted what’s in the quotes. I was nearly pissing myself laughing over it, and now realize in the sober light of day that it isn’t that funny.

I started vaping my strawberry around 4:20 (unintentional timing) and only did one 15-minute session on my Arizer. By 8pm I was in bed barely able to open my eyes. Strawberry Cough hits fast and hard like a freight train and then leaves you in a foggy haze afterward.

TL;DR – Did it Help Manage My Neurodivergence?

Overstimulation: I’d say yes – I was too far into my own little silly world to process negative sensory input.
Understimulation: FOR SURE. It amplified physical sensation and made EVERYTHING entertaining.
Executive Function: Absolutely not. I was in full gremlin mode the whole time and didn’t care about anything I didn’t think was funny.
Focusing: Not at all, I was bouncing around between things all night.
